In order to rent any vehicle, you have to be between 23 and 70 years old. That is because of the insurance companies policy. Drivers under 23 (but not younger 21) and drivers over 70 can usually rent a car with a daily additional insurance fee. Please contact us for details and insurance fee costs.

Your country’s license should be ok. It doesn’t necessarily have to be international, even though we have to inform you, that for some visitors, an international driving permit is required. (For example for visitors from USA, Canada, Australia, India, China, Korea, Japan and some others). If an international driving permit is required, that is accepted only together with your country license.

You must have a valid drivers license for at least one (1) year. There is no exceptions here.

There are free parking places everywhere, so parking is not a problem.

The speed limit is 60 km per hour, on open roads, and special signs indicate maximum speed if otherwise. You have to slow down a lot when driving in villages, and when you see people near the road.

In general, driving off-road in Santorini could be dangerous. The volcanic soil is not very stable. Also there might be a problem with insurance covers in case anything happens. For safety reasons it's better to stay on asphalt roads.

In Santorini, there are free parking places in every village/town. Parking is not a problem. If though, for some reason, a parking ticket is issued for a rental car, the driver of the rental car is responsible for that.
